inkScope is a ceph visualization and admin interface

Overview

Inkscope is a Ceph admin and supervision interface that provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to manage and monitor a Ceph cluster. It relies on an API provided by Ceph and uses MongoDB to store real-time and historical metrics. However, with the deletion of ceph-rest-api since the Mimic version, Inkscope is no longer actively maintained.

Features

  • GUI Dashboard: Visualize the status of the Ceph cluster, including various elements like flags, pools, erasure code profiles, rados gateway users, and buckets.
  • Object Storage User Management: Manage user permissions and access control for object storage within the Ceph cluster.
  • REST API Integration: Orchestrate calls to Ceph's REST API, Rados gateway administration API, and command lines to perform administrative tasks within the cluster.
  • Probe System: Collect information about the Ceph cluster, including both Ceph-specific and system-level information.
  • Supervision of Ceph: (To be developed) Introduce supervision capabilities to monitor the health and performance of the Ceph cluster.

Summary

Inkscope is a powerful tool for managing and monitoring Ceph clusters. It provides a user-friendly GUI for visualizing cluster status, managing object storage users, and performing various administrative tasks. However, with the removal of ceph-rest-api in the Mimic version, Inkscope is no longer actively maintained. Nonetheless, it continues to support older versions of Ceph and aims to maintain compatibility with new Ceph versions.
